HARRIERS IN ACTION WELLINGTON CHAMPIONSHIP. SENIOR RACE WON BY PULLAR. The Wellington Provincial Cross Country Senior and Junior Championships were run at .Silverstream on Saturday afternoon before a large crowd of spectators. The weather was fine, though there was a strong, keen wind.

The Masterton Harrier Club representative, W. A. C .Pullar, ran a magnificent race to breast the tape 200 yards ahead of C. Bruce (Scottish). The junior title was won by R. Ballantyne (Scottish). Fifty-five harriers were sent away by Mi’ T. Leslie in front of St Patrick’s College. The course led 300 yards north along the main highway, cut across fences to the left, and along a belt of pines. A twenty-five foot stream about 3 feet deep, over more fences, along paddocks, back through the stream and down a track to the main road, were hazards to overcome before cutting through paddocks to the finishing tape in the college grounds. Covering in all 3> miles, the course was too winding for fast times to be registered. The Masterton Harrier Club's junior team, although not in the first three team placings were close behind. C. J. Carle ran a good race to finish first in the Masterton competitors. C. Orr and P. Greenlees also finished well up. The Senior Championship course was over two laps of the course covered by the juniors. One hundred and sixteen harriers finished in the senior event, several pulling out with cramp. W. A. C. Pullar set the pace from the start, and forged out to keep the lead all the way. running tirelessly. C. Bruce (Scottish) and G. Gregory (Masterton) had a keen tussle for second place. Bruce holding Gregory off. R. N. Shaw (Masterton) ran his best race this season, finishing thirteenth in a well timed race. R. Wyeth ran well to finish forty-fourth, and was unlucky not to have been closer up.

’ W. Pullar has enhanced an enviable • record cross-country record. He has ■ now won the New Zealand title, the ' Wellington Provincial title, and the ■ Otago Junior title. 1 Masterton finished second in the 1 teams championship with 61 points, ' followed by Kiatere 76 points 3. WANGANUI, July 29. In bleak weather the annual West Coast (North Island) harrier titles were decided in Wanganui today over the Bramwell Memorial course. Teams from Wanganui, Palmerston North, Marton, New Plymouth and Feilding competed. Results:— H. G. Brown (New Plymouth), 37.28, 1; F. Hill (Marton), 37.53, 2; M. Hunt (Marton), 38.10, 3; C.
