QUESTIONS IN HOUSE OF COMMONS TALK OF “UNSCRUPULOUS ATTACKS.” DOMINION SECRETARY’S ASSURANCE. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. (Received This Day, 9.20 a.m.) LONDON. July 4. In the House of Commons. Sir Thomas Inskip, Secretary for the Dominions, replying to Mr W. Gallacher (Com.) said that discussions with Mr W. Nash (New Zealand Finance Minister) were continuing. Mr Gallacher: “Is not the Government aware of the necessity for countering unscrupulous attacks upon the finances of New Zealand by the Bank of England.”
Sir Thomas Inskip said he thought this statement should be repudiated. The Rev Campbell Stephen (1.L.P.): “Can Sir Thomas Inskip give an assurance that New Zealand will get as good terms as non-Empire countries?” Sir Thomas Inskip: “It is the Government’s policy to treat the Dominions as well as possible—in any case better than non-Empire countries.
Mr Gallacher: “Will Sir Thomas Inskip ask Mr Nash’s opinion of the Bank of England?” There was no answer
