ARAB MANIFESTO
ATTACK ON GRAND MUFTI REJECTION OF WHITE PAPER CRITICISED. ■BASIS FOR REALISATION OF ASPIRATIONS. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY. July 3. The Colonial Office has received the following message from Palestine: ‘‘A long, printed manifesto, signed by eight former comrrtanders of Arab rebel bands now in Damascus, critises the Grand Mufti and the Arab Higher Committee for having rejected the British White Paper on what are alleged to be purely personal grounds.
“The manifesto, which is circulating widely in Palestine, is stated to have been drawn up by a meeting of Mujahideen —'holy warriors' —in Damascus, by whom the eight signatories were elected as a committee. “ 'News from Palestine indicates that a majority of the noble Arab people fully agree that the White Paper forms a good basis for realisation of the natural aspirations in the cause for which we fought,' the manifesto declares.”
