Twenty-five thousand people in the Dominion were taught to swim during the New Zealand wide campaign that was held during the summer. That is the figure with four small returns to come, and includes results from the main centres. Canterbury takes pride of place in the results achieved during the campaign, with a total of 6162. The figures reveal the effectiveness of the campaign, for last year's total of people taught to swim was 12,000 less than half the tally for 1939.
