RAILWAYS APPEALS
GENERAL MANAGER & STAFF MEMBER.
CANTERBURY RESOLUTION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Exception was taken by Canterbury railwaymen at the last meeting of the Canterbury branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, to the action of the General Manager, Mr G. H. Mackley, in criticising Mr J. S. Roscoe in an article in the “Railways Magazine.” The following motion was carried: “That this branch regards with disapproval the action of the General Manager, in attacking an individual mem s ber of the staff through the medium of a State organ. This branch commends the stand taken by Mr Roscoe and supports him, in demanding an inquiry into appeal board methods and an overhaul of the railways act.”
