BIRTH RATE UP
RECENT TREND IN CANADA. OTTAWA. The birthrate in Canada shows a marked improvement this year with 63,631 babies born in the first nine months of 1938 as compared with 61,137 in the corresponding period of 1937. With improving economic conditions, more young people are getting married, and in the period January to September, inclusive, 30,049 couples went to the altar as compared with 29,551 in the same period last year.
