POINTS FOR IMPORTERS
APPLICATIONS FOR LICENCES. STATEMENT BY MINISTER. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright WELLINGTON, This Day. Import licences are to be issued immediately after the Christmas vacation, stated the Minister of Customs (the Hon W. Nash) today. Arrangements' had been completed and the licences would be issued by the Collectors of Customs. Mr Nash said those applying for licences would be of great assistance if they could classify their goods according to the group of tariff items. There were several hundred items in the tariff, and it made it much easier to handle applications if goods were classified under one of these. In a few individual cases, information would be necessary regarding particular classes of goods, where the tariff item included a comprehensive list, if the information required had not already been furnished. Collectors would advise applicants.
