4 THE LAVAL-MUSSOLINI AGREEMENTS. REPORTED NOTIFICATION BY ITALY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 9.30 a.m.) PARIS, December 22. It is officially stated that Italy has sent a Note to M. Francois Poncet, French Ambassador in Rome, stating that it no longer considers the LavalMussolini agreements valid. AFRICAN FRONTIERS. RESUMPTION OF DISCUSSION DESIRED. LONDON, December 22. The Paris correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” says it is understood that Italy informed France on December 17 that the Franco-Italian Agreement of 1935 determining the frontiers of Eritrea and Libya and the status of Italian nationals in Tunis must be regarded as void since it was never ratified. It is believed that Italy suggested that France now submit fresh proposals complying with the London Treaty of 1915 which brought Italy into the war and under which Britain and France agreed, if they increased their colonial territory in Africa at Germany’s expense, that Italy might claim compensation in Eritrea, Somaliland and Libya.
