“There is a tendency among our pupils to stay away from school for what appear to be trivial reasons and their progress sutlers accordingly. During the year very few boys or girls made an unbroken attendance,” said Dr D. E. Han Sen (principal) at the annual prize-giving of the Christchurch Technical College. The principal asked for the co-operation of parents in ensuring better attendance in the future, saying that this helped to stress the importance of the pupils’ course at school.
