BEAUTIFUL BLOOMS

FLOWER SHOW AT FEATHERSTON.

A SPLENDID EXHIBITION. ("Times-Age” Special.) The Featherston Horticultural and Industrial Society’s' Spring Show was opened by the Mayor (Mr J. W. Card) at 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon. Despite the recent storm there was a record number of entries, the flowers making a beautiful display. In the decorative section there was some very artistic work displayed. Fruit and vegetables of excellent quality were shown. The entries in the cooking classes looked most appetising. In the home work section, the work was well up to the usual standard. Great interest was shown in the children’s section, the new classes proving very popular. The judges were: Decorative —Mrs Bennett, Wellington. Cut flowers—Mr H. L. Esau, Masterton. Fruit and vegetables —Mr J. T. Roberts. Home produce —Mrs Pink, Carterton. Home work —Mrs Wood, Lower Hutt. The entries totalled 800 against 500 last year.
