CHURCH SERVICES

Members of the Masterton Rotary Club will attend St Matthew’s Church on Sunday, at 11 a.m., when the vicar will speak on “Idealism and Life.” In the evening he will speak on “Progress for the Nation.” At 7 p.m., at Kuripuni, the Rev T. V. Pearson will be the speaker, and at Upper Plain at 7 p.m. the preacher will be Mr V. W. Joblin. Holy Communion will be celebrated at St. Matthew’s Church at 8 a.m., and at Kuripuni at 9 a.m. The Rev John Davie, who has been on his annual holiday, has resumed his duties and will preach in. Knox Church tomorrow, the morning subject being “A Human Instinct,” and in the evening “Witnesses.” The rare opportunity of hearing the Cantata “Daniell” will be available to all interested in the Methodist Church on Sunday evening at 7 o’clock when there will be an augmented choir, under the baton of Mr S. H. Ralph. The chief soloists are Mrs G. Milne, Misses Jamieson and O’Donnell, Messrs Barnes, Davies, Kay and Clark. Everyone will be welcome. The service will be conducted by the Rev Frederick J. Parker, who will also be the morning preacher, the subject then being, “This Freedom.” At the Kuripuni Methodist Church on Sunday the morning service will be conducted by Pastor C. H. Skuse. In the evening worshippers are invited to join at the town church in a special musical service. A special series of services will be conducted by Adjutant Hutchins tomorrow at the Salvation Army Barracks. The Adjutant, who is well known as being a powerful exponent of the gospel and an evangelist, has also been a missionary officer in India. She is a most interesting speaker with a wide experience of Christian work. In the evening service there will be the Self-Denial altar service, when Salvationists and Christian friends will have an opportunity of presenting their gifts on the altar towards the Self-Denial appeal. The Wonderful Chart series of services will be continued at the Ruhamah Gospel ’ Hall on Sunday evening. This week the subjects will be, “The Great White Throne” and “Final Judgment.”
