THE REGENT.
“DAUGHTER OF SHANGHAI” The inside story of the world’s most inhuman racket, the. smuggling of aliens into America, is the background of “Daughter of Shanghai,” Paramount’s romance, with Anna May Wong, Philip Ahn, Charles Bickford, Evelyn Brent in 'the leading roles, which will be shown again tonight at the Regent Theatre. “Daughter of Shanghai” goes behind the scenes of the racket which, has become one of the most serious problems confronted by the American Government. The picture shows how a beautiful girl marks herself for death by getting evidence against this band. In addition there are six excellent shorts which, with “Daughter of Shanghai,” will give theatre patrons a very fine programme indeed. The supporting pictures are of outstanding merit, the whole making a programme of a very high standard with something to, suit every taste.
On Saturday there will be shown at the Regent Theatre, “Broadway Melody of 1938,” featuring Eleanor Powell, Robert Taylor, Buddy Ebsen and George Murphy.
