VICTORY FOR BOIS ROUSSEL.

WINS GOING AWAY. (Recd This Day, 9.15 a.m.) LONDON, June 1. The Derby resulted:— M. Leon Volterra’s br c BOIS ROUSSEL, by Vatout—Plucky Liege (C. Elliott) 1 Mr James V. Rank’s b c SCOTTISH UNION, by Cafneronian —Trustful (B. Carslake) 2 Mr H. E. Morriss’ PASCH, by Blandford—Pasca (Gordon Richards) — —• 3 Twenty-two horses started. Seventh Wonder was scratched. Won by four lengths, with two lengths between second and third horses. License, owned by his Majesty the King, was early away, till at the foot of the hill where Halcyon Gift dashed into the lead. Pasch was lying a comfortable fourth. At the top of the bend'Halcyon Gift was out in front by two lengths, followed by Chatsworth, Pasch and Scottish Union. The four length’s lead, which Halcyon Gift held at the three-quarter mile post was reduced to two lengths at Tattenham Corner, where Caveman and Mirza were coming up rapidly. Scottish Union led into the straight, with Pasch challenging him/ Scottish Union looked a certainty till Bois Roussel, with an overwhelming run from the back, won going away.

Enormous crowds cheered the Royal Party on arrival at Epsom, where the going was good despite the heavy rains.
