KNOX LADIES’ GUILD

BUSINESS AT MONTHLY MEETING. There was a very good gathering of members of Knox Ladies’ Guild on Wednesday when those present were entertained by Mrs J. Davie at the Manse, Worksop Road. The president, Mrs G. W. Morice, was in the chair. Apologies for abse'nce were received from Mesdames Douglas Henderson, McGregor, Speedy and Willoughby. In response to a request by the guild that some new chairs be bought immediately, the managers sent several sample > chairs to be examined by the ladies at their meeting. Votes of thanks were expressed to Mrs Davie for her donation of trays and to Mrs Reid for crockery. Mrs Reynold offered to place flowers in the church for June.

Mrs V. Joseph conducted a successful "Bring and Buy” stall during the afternoon. Miss L. McGregor offered to take charge of the stall next month.

After the business items had been dealt with the Rev. J. Davie introduced Mrs P. McLaren, who delighted her hearers with a particularly bright and entertaining description of the many amusing incidents that occurred during her recent trip abroad.

At the conclusion of her talk Mr Davie proposed a cordial vote of thanks to Mrs McLaren for her very interesting talk. Afternoon tea was served and Heather and Joan -Douglas contributed two duets which were charmingly sung.

The next meeting will be held at the residence of Mrs J. Gray, College Street, where Mrs Gray and Miss Guild will be the hostesses. Mrs G. W. Morice on behalf of the guild passed a cordial vote of thanks to the hostess, Mrs J. Davie, and to those who contributed items.
