ANOTHER EPISODE
IN TALE OF MISFORTUNE ESCAPE FROM BLAZING FLAT (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 12. Escaping in her nightdress from a blazing flat at 1 o’clock this morning Mrs H. Grau added another episode to a tale of misfortune. She was seriously injured in the Napier earthquake, being an invalid for two years. She was injured again on Saturday through a fall on a wet floor. Mrs Grau, her daughter and a young visitor, Miss Nola Carter, were awakened this morning in Hill Crest Flats, Mount Eden, by the crackling of fire in the kitchen. They were unable to save any belongings in the rush to escape. The flat was gutted and damage was done also to the flat above, but the brigade made a good save of the rest of the big building. The building and contents of the flat were insured.
