CONTESTS FOR MAYORALTIES POLLS ELSEWHERE. MR. T. C. A. HISLOP RETURNED IN WELLINGTON. (Bj- Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The mayor of Wellington, Mr T. C. A. Hislop, Citizens’ ticket nominee for re-election, secured a majority of 6088 votes over his Labour opponent, Mr C. H. Chapman, M.P. At the last election Mr Hislop defeated the Labour candidate, Mr R. The Dunedin mayoral election resulted in the defeat of the Rev E. T. Cox (Labour), who was seeking the position for a third term. The voting was as follows: — A. H. Allen "(Independent) 17,899 E. T. CITY COUNCIL RESULT IN WELLINGTON LABOUR LOSES ONE SEAT WELLINGTON, May 12. The election for the Wellington City Council resulted in the return of nine Citizens’ candidates and six Labour candidates.
