BOMBING OF THE STANHOPE Regarded as Deliberate : STRONG PROTEST MADE BY BRITAIN ! (Recd This Day, 10.20 a.m.) LONDON, May 11. ’ Mr R. A. Butler (Foreign Under-Secretary) replying to a question in the House of Commons, said the Government had been forced to the conl elusion that the bombing of the British steamer Stanhope at Valencia on i May 7 was deliberate and had strongly protested to the Burgos authorities and requested that precautions be taken so that there might be no t recurrence.
