A WORTHY EFFORT
AID TOR FLOOD SUFFERERS
IN HAWKE’S BAY
WAIRARAPA PLANS MAKING GOOD HEADWAY.
MANY ASSURANCES OF HELP & SUPPORT. Wairarapa efforts to raise funds for the relief of sufferers in the recent floods in Hawke’s Bay have taken definite shape. A monster ball, as originally suggested, will be held in the Municipal Hall, Masterton. on Tuesday, May 24. The price of tickets has been fixed at ss, and they will be on sale immediately. The organisation extends throughout the Wairarapa, mayors, members of social organisations and others have undertaken most readily to give their assistance and support. The provisional committee set up has appointed the Mayor of Masterton (Mr T. Jordan) as hon. treasurer and Mr Douglas Ward as hon. secretary. Spontaneous offers of support have been received from all quarters, and as this will probably be the main effort in the Wairarapa on behalf of the Hawke’s Bay sufferers, all are asked to purchase tickets to any number they think fit as their means of contribution.
The leading women’s organisations throughout the Wairarapa are convening meetings within the next few days to concert measures of assistance and support.
