HELP FOR HAWKE’S BAY.

Q-OOD neighbourly feeling and an appreciation from a national standpoint of the serious magnitude of the disaster that overtook the people of some parts of Hawke’s Bay on the occasion of the recent floods no doubt will ensure widespread and liberal support of the campaign that has been launched in the Wairarapa to raise Jinids with which to contribute to the relief of these sulferers. As everyone knows, the need is great and urgent. Apart from an enormous amount of damage the repair ol which will become a charge on national and local body revenues, large numbers of individuals have suffered heavy, and in some cases overwhelming losses in damage to homes and farnls. The strongest claims are thus established to practical sympathy and tangible assistance from the people of areas like the Wairarapa. This district has acquitted itself admirably on similar occasions in the past anil it need not be doubted that it will do so again. Some further particulars are given today of the plans that are being carried rapidly to completion to organise a monster ball 7n aid of the flood sufferers—a project already assured of hearty and general support throughout the Wairarapa. In the sale of tickets and in other wavs, an opportunity will be given to all to contribute to the funds that are being raised in a most worthy cause and one that may be expected to carry its own sufficient appeal.
