CHAMPION OF CHAMPION PAIRS. FEATHERSTON BEAT MASTERTON. The final game of the champion of champion pairs competition was played in perfect conditions on Saturday afternoon on the Park Bowling Club’s green, when Higgison and Smith (s) Featherston, defeated Ewington and Christian (s), Masterton, 18-17. The' contest was evenly contested throughout, the exchanges being perhaps slightly in favour of the Masterton players, who, on the conclusion of the twentieth head looked like winning as the board showed a score of 17-14 in their favour. Featherston, however, tallied four in the final head and thus secured the championship by one point. At the conclusion of the match Mr Wallace, president of the Park Club, congratulated the winning pair upon their success, with a special word also for the losers and all who had taken part in the contest. Three hearty’ cheers were given for the new champions with another salvo for the runners-up. In reply, Mr Smith thanked Mr Wallace for his remarks, and paid a tribute to all the players in the contest for the sportsmanlike manner in which every game had been played. He also thanked the Park Club for attending so thoroughly to all the arrangements for the various games and for the hospitality extended to the visitors.

On Saturday, April 23, the club’s wind-up social will be held in the Savage Club’s rooms at 7.30 p.m.
