PERSONAL. (“Times-Age” Special.) Miss Knight, England, is the guest of Mrs D. H. S. Riddiford, “Longwood,” for a few days. Mrs McEllraith, Rakaia, who is visiting her mother, Mrs M. A. Sutherland, “Burnside,” Pirinoa, met with a painful accident, putting her arm through a glass door, receiving severe cuts. She is making satisfactory progress.

Miss Mabel Dohnt, who has been visiting hei - parents in Bell Street, has returned to Masterton.

Mrs A. P. A. Clapshaw has returned from a brief visit to Wellington.

Mr J. Pollard, Bay of Plenty, is the guest of Mr N. Fairbrother, Hayward Street.

The many friends of Mrs H. Lawson will regret to hear that she suffered a very painful accident on Saturday caused through a fall on the concrete, breaking her left fore-arm. Mr David Clark, youngest son of Mr and Mrs Herbert Clark, left last week for New Plymouth where he has joined the staff of a large motoring firm.

Mr J. W. Holland, supervisor of the local Post Office, who had been indisposed for a few days with an injury to his leg, has resumed duty. Mrs S. Best, Wanganui, who has been on a visit to her sister, Mrs J.W. Booker, Dunedin, is a visitor to Featherston. Messrs N. C. Shepherd, R. Donald, L. Benton and W. McGill were the' guests of Mr D. Donald at a week-end shooting party. FAREWELL SERMON. The Rev W. Falkingham preached his farewell sermon at the Methodist Church on Sunday morning prior to leaving for Cromwell. MOTOR ACCIDENT. A motor accident accured on the Mungaroa Hill on Sunday when Mr E. Bidwill’s car was damaged. Mr Bidwill escaped with minor injuries. DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB. On Saturday the final for Mr R. Donald’s trophy was competed for over 800 and 900 yards. The day was fine but there was a fairly tricky fishtail wind blowing. Scores: —

The winner of the trophy was S. Benton (188) with A. Cooke (187) second and W. J. McGill (185) third. A field day will be held at the weekend, scores counting for the Club Championships.

SWIMMING. The Featherston Swimming Club closed its season on Saturday afternoon when several club events were completed. The seasons competition winners are as follows: —Junior girls (club trophy), Miss Phil Hatton. Junior boys (club trophy), Lewis Benton. Intermediate girls (club trophy), Miss Valda Downes. Intermediate boys (club trophy), W. McNamara. Most improved girl (J. N. Kelly’s trophy), Miss Molly Tocker. Most improved boy (W. Burt’s trophy), W. McNamara. Diving (J. Moriarty’s trophy), Miss Pasty Davis. The trophies were presented by Mr S. Still, secretary, who congratulated the winners and also club members for the sportsmanlike spirit they had displayed in coaching beginners.

The stimulate interest in swimming amongst the children Mr W. J. McGill has presented a handsome Challenge Shield to the Featherston School for inter-House competition. For sports purposes the School is divided into three houses, Konini, Rata and Kowhai. The latter house tjils year won the Shield which is on exhibition at Mr T. Hardies’.
