CARTERTON BOWLING & TENNIS CLUB. CLOSING DAY TOURNAMENT. (“Times-Age” Special.) Saturday was the closing day of the Carterton Bowling Green and Tennis Club, and members assembled in large numbers to participate in a Yankee tennis tournament. Before this was completed, several sharp showers made the courts too damp for further play and the three final couples, Mr. Eric H. Fisher and Miss Nola Nicholls, Mrs. B. Booth and Mr.. J. Brown, Mr. L. Keedwell and Miss B. Steel, drew for the trophy, Mr. Keedwell and Mis Steel being successful.. The president, Mr R. W. Roydhouse, in a humorous speech, presented the trophies won during this season. He was proud to say, he observed, that the Wairarapa Men’s Doubles Buttons had been retrieved only the previous week fey Messrs Taverner and Keedwell. The ladies’ senior championship had been won by Mrs. L. Keedwell, who had also put up a fine record by winning all her singles in club matches. Mr. L. Keedwell had won the men’s senior championship. The other events had been won chiefly by the younger members of the club, who were showing promise. The winners were: — Ladies’ Junior Championship: Miss Nola Nicholls. Men’s Junior Championship: Mr. Jack Brown. ' Ladies’ Handicap Singles: Mrs. Worsfield, who, the president remarked, was a great fighter. Men’s Handicap Singles: Mr. Jack Steel. .■ Ladies’ Handicap Doubles: Mrs. L. keedwell and Miss D. Crawley. Men’s Handicap Doubles: lan Bond -and Jack Brown.

Combined Doubles: Mr. Jack Steel and Miss E. Bedford. The president closed his remarks, by proposing a hearty vote of thanks to the green committee. The ladies provided afternoon tea in the generous manner that is always a feature throughout the season, at the Carter- ' tb'n’ club’s courts.
