FARM HAND DROWNED
STRENUOUS RESCUE ATTEMPTS FAIL AUCKLAND, April 3. In spite of strenuous rescue attempts by two companions, George Warboys, aged 27, a farm labourer, of Silverdale, was drowned at the cove, Tauhinui Park, Greenhithc, on Saturday afternoon.
Mr Warboys jumped into deep water and was soon in difficulties. He was powerfully built and began to struggle and pulled one of his companions under the water, so that he had to release his grip. Mr Warboys then disappeared. The body has not been recovered.
