NIGHT FLYING

INSTRUCTION TO ADVANCED PUPILS. WAIRARAPA CLUB ACTIVITIES. Night flying by a Wairarapa Aero Club machine on Saturday night gave rise to rumours in Masterton that a ’plane had lost its way and was seeking a landing ground in the darkness.

The machine was ZK-ADL, and was piloted by Mr. K. R. Johnston, Pilot-Instructor to the club, who is embarking on a series of night-flying instruction courses to advanced pupils. There were no navigation lights on the ’plane, but a flare path at the aerodrome indicated the landing ground. Mr. Johnston has had considerable experience in night flying and he made perfect landings under none too easy conditions.
