4 Power Board District. Alterations to the boundaries of the Wairarapa Electric Power Board’s district were detailed in last week’s “Gazette.”

Pahiatua County Rates. Rate collections by the Pahiatua County Council for the year ended March 31 aggregated 99.05 of the total amount levied.

Nursing Division. The first lecture on First Aid for the Nursing Division of the St. John Ambulance will be held to-night at 8 o’clock in the Lecture Room. Accidental Drowning.

A Press message from Otaki states that at the inquest on James Bain recently drowned at Paraparaumu beach, the verdict returned was that of accidental drowning. The coroner, Mr George Harper, commended young men for the action they had taken in connection with the fatality. Y.M.C.A.

At the annual meeting of the Masterton Y.M.C.A., which is to be held to-morrow night in the Association’s Rooms, the annual eport will be presented and other business of importance transacted. Musical Recital.

The box plan is filling rapidly for the recital tomorrow night at the Opera House by Misses Betty Coleman L.T.C.L., Laila Story, A.LS.T.D. (N.M. Branch), Nita Ingley and Vera Gambling, A.R.C.M. Every branch of their work will be demonstrated by the .artists and excellent entertainment is promised. The prices are 2s 6d, Is 6d, and Is for children and booking is free at the Arts and Crafts. Martinborough Collie Club. A reminder is given that entries for the Martinborough Collie Club’s 35th annual sheep dog trials will close tonight at 8 o’clock with the secretary, Mr C. D. Mason, Martinborough. The trials, which have aways been a popular fixture and have attracted large entries, will be held on Mr Murdoch McLeod’s Hillside property next Thursday and Friday. The trials will start each day at 8 a.m. and the club is offering £6l in prize money, probably the largest in New Zealand. Rugby Representation. At its .annual meeting on Saturday night, the Wairarapa Rugby Union adopted a remit from the Masterton Club asking that the Primary Schools’ Union be given representation on the Union, the delegate to have the same status as club delegates. Members agreed that it was a step in the right direction. A delegate from the Schools’ Union will now have voting power at annual meetings and will be eligible for election to the Management Committee.

Lansdowne Tennis Club. The official closing of the Lansdowne Tennis Club's season took place on Saturday, when there was a large attendance of members and visitors. An enjoyable combined doubles Yankee tourney was played and was won by N. Faulknor and Mrs D. Groves, wlio defeated S. Faulknor and Miss V. Watson' in a keenly contested final. The president, Mr A. W. Scott, referred to the success and enjoyment of the season and thanked members for their co-operation. Members and visitors were the guests of Mr Scott at afternoon tea.

Wagons Derailed. Eleven empty wogans attached to a mixed train which left Taihape at 1.32 o’clock on Saturday morning were derailed near Karioi Railway Station yard at 4.30 a.m. No one was injured. Some of the trucks were extensively damaged and one was slewed across the track. In other cases the wheels merely slipped off the rails and were easily replaced. By 8 a.m. the line was clear for traffic, little damage being done to the permanent way.
