HAWKE'S BAY RACES. FRANCIS DRAKE WINS BIG EVENT HASTINGS, April 2. Although heavy rain fell throughout the province this morning, there was a good attendance for the concluding day of the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s autumn meeting. The investments for the day amounted to £14,995/10/-, which compared very favourably with the £14,911/10/handled on the second day last year, which was on the Coronation holiday. The total for the meeting was £26,716, an increase of £352/10/- on last year. Results:—

Brilliant, sultry weather favoured the autumn meeting of the Stratford Racing Club to-day with the exception of a torrential shower just prior to the seventh race which soaked the track and completely altered the state of the going which, up to that stage, had been in perfect order. ROSEHILL RACES. ANOTHER WIN FOR SARCHERIE. SYDNEY, April 2. Racing at Rosehill to-day, the old lady of the Turf, Sarcherie, achieved still another victory in the Rawson Stakes, giving Cathartes and Allunga a sound beating in that event. Sir Regent was not equal to winning the Rosehill Autumn Handicap, which went to Mestoravon easily, while Mohican scored comfortably from Bodley Head in the Railway Handicap. Chief results are: —

Red Rosebud was third in the Parramatta Mile, in which Country Party and Golden were unplaced. The jockey McCarten rode the winners in two divisions of the Nursery Handicap, Loombah and Adios, and also the winner of the Railway Handicap, Mohican.

ASCOT MEETING. A WIN FOR MASTERTON. MELBOURNE, April 3. Racing at Ascot, Amiable was unplaced in the Eclipse Handicap, won by Soltoi. Le Grand, Link Divine and Lord Willonyx were unplaced- in the Carlisle Trial Hurdles, won by W. Kemball’s Masterton, after a hard finish with Jangler. MANAWATU TROTS. ZINCALI WINS CUP. PALMERSTON NORTH, April 2. The Manawatu Trotting Club experienced fine weather for its meeting at Awapuni to-day.
