Experiences with second-hand or super bags for sheep rugs have been disappointing in Australia, as they quickly wear out, and only a small percentage last for the whole season. Some benefit is gained by dipping the rug in a bluestone solution of about normal pickling strength—namely, one per cent., whilst in other cases the bag is treated with a thin solution, of Stockholm tar. However, generally speaking, these treatments do not make an appreciable difference in the life of the rug, although they naturaly have some effect, and if secondhand bags are used, the rug cannot be expected to last for more than one season.
