Absolutely Untrue.
The Observer of July 14 has the following "It is reported that Mr Buchanan's spi ao'i was in type in the Stindabd office befoieit was delivered at Carterton (1), and that the • Daily’ took the tpeeoh with him in bis peck it toMasterton (2). t . Another matter we might mention is that tho speech as reported in the ' official organ’ was nut delivered by Buchanan’s (He) verbatim (3). Anyone who heard it cannot fail to see that it has been considerably enlarged (4) and improved upon (6).”
The foregoing remarks are contained in 15 of the Observer’s line*. Those 15 lines eontain exactly 6 Absolute Dhtboths—an untruth in each three lines. (1). Mr Buchanan's speech was not in type in this office before it (the speech) was delivered. No line of it was in type. (2). The * Daily’ did not take the speech with him to Masterton. (3.4) The Btakdabd report, though a fairly good one is not enlarged, but considerably curtailed. (6) The speech was not improved upon; and(l to 5). Mr Buchanan’s speech was not and is not now written out at all, and has never been written out.
N.B.—We will give another £2O to the local hospital if the Observer succeeds in proving its five allegations, if the Observer will give £2O In case it fails in proving them.
