The Post on Organs.

I» oar issue of July 18, we placed on record our humble and profound thankfalneee thar. we had been the means of aflbrding amusement to the great creature who runs the Evening Post and, occasionally, peripatetic theatrical entertainments. We have now to express our abject sorrow for having made him angry. We grovel at his feet, we throw ashes on our head; on our knees we cry peceavi! and beseech his royal clemency. Oh! but he has almost annihilated ns. He has called us, we blush to write the dreadful words—an “ organ that pipes.” Shall we, should we, survive such devastating sarcasm ? Only the conviction that our bleeding country needs os, reconciles us to existence after this sonl-scorhing blast from the Prophet of Panama street. We will try to bear npi “An organ that pipes!” and a litU* organ, at that! But, stay There are organs and organs. There are monstrous, unwieldy instruments, all brass bound and copper fastened that can wheeae and splatter and groan, bat have no note of mnsic in their enmbrons composition. Then again there arc organs —little organs, plain everyday affairs—that can at times pipe melodies and discourse mnsic, martial or merry, and have capacity for something else than mere unsubstantial clatter and wind. What if the Staitoaju should be one of these unpretentious instruments P What, oh whit if the Poet should after all be bat a big organ, richly gilt, with—broken bellows and no tone to speak ofP Bnt how about that Evening Post map? When are the Post people going to remove out of sniffof that boiling down establishment t When do they intend to return Gladstone f
