Cheap Excursion Trains.
To the Editor of the Standard, Sib,—lt ia a scandalous shame of the Bailway Department to deprive na country settlors of an opportunity of visiting Wellington whenever a cheap excursion train ia run* Last week I got the Stub* an on Saturday, and I found a train left the Wairarapa that morning. Nov, what good was that informstion to us at Uartinborongb f Why was 11 not pot in the paper en Wednesday. Owing to wet weather the Steeplechase was post* poned and now I hear it is probable that another train will run next Saturday. But will it? That's what we want to know. Many persons would avail themselves of these cheap trips but we seldom bear of them until they are over. It is a rascally shame the way our railways are managed and I wish either the Press or our Parliamentary Candidates would go lot the Government on this matter. 1 am, Ac., Sanaa.
