A most unfortunate mistake was made at Carterton recently. Mr A. Douglas, a settler in the Lower Valley, was a witness in a civil ease in court on the 28th June, and was. owing to ill health, somewhat nervous and agitated. The constable, nnder the impteeeion that Hr Douglas was nnder the influence of liqnor in Gout, summoned him for the alleged offence, but when tbs case was heard before die R.M., on Tneeday, the Magistrate acquitted the accused without any stain upon hie (Ur Douglas) personal conduct. In the ease A. Douglas v Carterton Town Board, claim £U value of a hone, judgment was reserved until the next sitting of the Conn.

At tbe meeting of the Waste Lands Board on Wednesday, it was resolved to enpply the Feathers ton Bead Board with particulars respecting road access to sections 97, Ac., Cross’ Creek. Mr Bonny moved that sections 537 and 538, Feathenion district, now offered as a small run, be withdrawn, and offered separately as cash sections. Seconded by Mr Beetbam and carried.
