A Carterton Opinion.
To the Editor of the Standard. Sra,— l am glad to find that tbe Stabdabd newspaper is having a very wholesome effect in Carterton. Tbs way in wbioh you reviewed Mr Bunny’s speech which ha made here, considering you oppose bis election baa been highly spoken of, and I would that tbe local paper would show tbe same honorable spirit towards Mr Buebanan, instead of misrepresenting his actions and trying to bring up s religious fend in connection with this election. But yoo have made it very hot for tbe * Ob server ’ people. Ton have “ nailed them down " like courteifeitcoin and exposed them aa literary thieves. While ever ready to sup port oor local paper, I detest it for its barefaced distortion of faets, low iunendoea and piracy. Mr Buchanan is “ going in ”in the face of tbe ' Observer’s ’ iifluence (?), and when polling day comes Carterton will give him a lilt clean into the House of Beprasenta lives. 1 am, 40., Jollt But.
