Blackmail!
The Masteiton Star has been patting the Observer on the back for declaring for Mr Bunny in preference to Mr Buchanan. The Daily replies thus “ Has our contemporary (the Star) heard— we have—that the Observer asked
Mr Buchanan a big price for "its lion heart and eagle eye” and that it transferred its independence to Mr Bunny, simply because Mr Buchanan refused to be blackmailed. It would be better for our contemporary to slick to poetry and avoid personal allusions. If Mr Bunny’s candidature is to be fought out on personal grounds and by personal inuendoes we feel sorry for Mr Bunny.”
