Featherston Dairy Company.

A large meeting of Shareho ders in the above Company was be d on Monday last, Mr Coleman Phillips in the chair. The principal business was to consider applica lions for shares. Deposits were paid on 115 shares in the room, and a number of addioonal shares were app'ied for; the list of persons who had promised to subscribe bad been gone through ; and those who had not yet paid the deposit, were reliable. To make up the first £IOOO, about twenty-five shares were required, and this number it was felt certain could be made up, so that the establishment of the Company is practically certain. The chairman, in the course of his remarks, said that although it was decided to start on he felt sure would be required ; but rather than see the matter stand over for twelve months he would, with other Directors, bear his share of any lespnnsibility required for temporary accommodation. A discussiou ensued as to ihe site, Mr Spearink having offered two acres at £yo rather than not see the Company floated. It was decided to abide by the site offered by Mr Hodge, and at next meeting, tf the share list is brought up to the to purchase the two acres, with house, Mr Hodge being asked to accept £l5O. There is now a good prospect of the works being started for next season, and a very little push on the part of persons interested will do it. A cordial vote of thanks was tendered to Mr Spearink for his ofier which was ccnsidered for the good of the object, and the meeting adjourned until Monday the 25th July.
