Piracy!
To the Editor of the Standard,
Sir, —The Carterton Observer of June 25 has an article beaded “ Protection our Watchword," a really capital article. Now, no one expects to find much else than rubbish jn the Observer, and when 1 read that excellent article I was a good bit astonished. However, Sir, I have a pretty fair memory for "an old ’UB," and my memory began to work and work. Presently I reached down my file of the Sydney Bulletin, and turned to page 2 of that paper for May 21, 1887. There I found a leading article entitled "Protection in Australasia ” and in that article I tound, Word for Word, PRACTICALLY THE WHOLE OP THE OBSERVER'S article " Protection Our Watchword." Yes, Sir,! STOLEN bolus bolus, from the Sydney Bulletin. It is said that the man who would take without acknowledgement the fruit of another’s brains would be equal to robbing a poor widow with twin orphans in her arms. Sir, I am a Protectionist, but hate, qnder any flag, " A PIBATE.” Masterton, June 28.
