Singular Stabbing Case.

A stabbing affray occurred in (he Union Boardinghouse, Masterton, on Wednesday night. Thomas Hurley, farmer from Wangaehu, went to bed at 11 o’clock. Two hours later John Williamson, a butcher, staying at the house, went into the same room, and lit a candle. A few minutes later the landlord heard a noise, and going to the room found Williamson bleeding from a wound in the groin two and a ball inches deep. Harley said he had about £2O, and declared that he had stabbed Williamson with a knife as he was in tbe act of robbing him. It is (up. posed that Hurley being awoke, and finding Williamson undressing himself, struck out with his knife, under the impression that ho was being robbed. Dr Milne stitched the wound, which, though narrow, is deep. Hurley was arrested, and has been remanded until 30th inst.
