WITH THEIR LITTLE HATCHETS.
One of the sanitary squad ot the police force was up Mullett street tbe other day when an old gray-headed citizen accosted him with; “ Maype you like to ootoh some pad boys, eh?" “If I eee any bad boys I shall certainly catch them," replied the officer. “ I entoh acme for you now.” “Where?” The old man beckoned him to the side gate and around the house. In the back yard were four cherry trees loaded with the red fruit, and in tbe branches of every tree was a hoy from eight to twelve years of age. Guarding tbe trees were two doge, end that they were anxious lor boy meat waa plainly shown by their aotions. “When did you catch ’em?” asked the officer.
“ Sis hours ago. If you doan’ want ’em I guess 1 leave ’em up till night. II somepoye like cherries it vhas too badt to pting ’em down pefore be vhas fall."
Ihe Officer went away and left ’em roosting high.
