The Wairarapa Hospital Board.

Thu Board met at the Comity Council Chambers, Mancrtou, on Wednesday morning. Present —Messrs R S Hawkins (chairman), W H Beetham, Caselberg, Gapper and Dagr. Tlje Clerk (Mr C Higgins) read the minutes of the former meeting, which vere confirmed. An application from the Mastenoi. Hospital Trustees for a subsidy of i'lw was received. Mr Buchanan wrote expressing his regret at not being able to be present, aim expressing a hojie that the Mastcrton Hospital Trustees would not compel the Board to levy a rate. After some considerable discussion in which Messrs Caselberg. Gapper, Beetham, Dagg and the Chairman biok part it was resolved to defer the matter until tile next meeting of the Board with a view to net the Trustees to sec if they cannot raise by voluntary subscription the sum of A'4J which, with the subsidy upon it, will meet all their requirements. The matter of the apportionment rf the sums to be paid by local contributory bodies was fully krone into and the proportioumeut made according to the nett annual rateable value in conformity with the income tax returns. It was resolved to leave the time for filing the next me, tins in the hands of the Chairman, it being understood that if the Mastcrton Trustees could arrange their business without the assistance of the Board, the members need not be called together for that purjjoso.
