Winter Entertainments.

Although a moat enticing programme wan presented lor Monday night’s concert at the Town Hall, Greytown, a very limited audience paid compliment to the exertions of Messrs G Wyett and L St George, but nevertheless the performers did their parts to perfection and there was no hitch in the proceedings whatever. The singing of Mr Gamble was faultless, so also was “ The Will of the Wisp ” by Mr B C Black and his encore song, " I Fear No Foe.” Miss Bowler sang an excel' lent song in very good and full voice which elicited a most rapturous encore. Mr G M Gardener’s recitations were as usual exoaedingly well received and he gave “ The Col legian and the Porter,” and “ The While Owl ” with great success. Mr G Higgins sang a comic song which appeared to tickle the audience, but it was not a difficult tune to manage, and as another newspaper man pre« sent remarked, it perhaps was more the style of the man, than the song which brought down the house. Mr Webster gave a reading which was admired for its brevity and Mrs Hume sang some good old songs in excellent voice, although she averred in one of them that she could not “ Sing Those Old Songs,' The Caitertou String Band kindly came down and their music was much admired. Mefsi> Bising, Lundqvist, G M Gardener and Spatkt with Miss Nation proving themselves good musicians. Mrs Knell kindly volunteered the accompaniments to some of the gentlemen’s songs and the items were altogether a good sixpence worth. Next Monday some excellent talent will come from a distance.
