Female Suffrage.

To ffie Editor of the Standard. Sib,-1 see that Sir Julius Vogel intends to introduce a bill giving wonmu power to vote the same as the men. Woman does not understand political economy and where there is ignorance grave errors follow. A woman never took the trouble to tbink out any public question—she has never taken the trouble to even make herself aoquaiulod with any one of them. Then why should she bo allowed to wield such power ? Judging by the way in which she treats her own sex she is totally unfitted for taking upon bersell the guidance of state affairs. Ladies in comfortable cir. cumstances enter many fields of industry to compete with tbeir sisters whose daily bread depends upon their work, and they will sell tbeir goods, aud call it pin money, at a lower cost even than those who have to labor until the small hours of the morning lo make a living. Tbe mysteries of shopping a man cannot understand. lie pays a fair price for an article, but women as a rule will banter and wrangle over a paltry copper, they will screw out the uttermost farthing from their own sex whose existence depends upon a lair price. Tbe life blood of a poor seamstress it nothing to some of these " womon of uriud ” as they are called. Tbe dangers of woman’s influence in the sphere of politics is not sufficiently thought of, and both Sir Julius Vogel and Mr Usllance do not know what the consequences will be in a few years if woman is allowed to use the ballot box. Mil) ssyt “ Woman never runs wild after an abstraos tion.” She is not fitted for thinking out any deep question and therefore her place is the household. It is there that her influence is for good, and ah 3 should be satisfied, 1 am, Ac , Uosbawd.
