Wairarapa South County Council.

The ordinary monthly meeting ol the above Council was held on Saturday. Present— Crs W. Booth (chairman), H. Bunny, W. C. Buchanan, 11. It. Bunny, J. Tully and H. Braithwaite. The minutes oi the previous ordinary meeting were read and confirmed, also the minutes of the Public Works Committee. A letter was read from the Clerk, Mr 11. 11. Woltere, asking that as the work of the Council had in no way decreased, the Council would grant him a bonus similar to what they did last year. On the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Cr W. C. Buchanan, the following Cra were appointed a committee to consider the matter and report at tbe next meeting, Crs W. C. Buchanan, H. R. Bunny, 'H. Braithwaite and the mover. Agreed to. Or W. G. Buohanan explained what he and the Chairman bad done in their interview with tbe Chief Surveyor and tbe Surveyor General, namely, that they had compromised by taking LSOO out of the L 563 which was allocated lor the Kaiwhata bridle track. On the motion of Cr H. It. Bunny, seconded by Cr J. Tully, and carried, their actions were approved of and the matter was to be further discussed at the Public Works Com* mittee meeting. A letter from the Colonial Treasurer in reference to the Imperial Institute was ordered to be laid on the table. A letter from Colonial Secretary with copy of Mr Coleman Phillips' letter re tbe Grey* town-Matarawa Bridge was read and ordered to be further discussed at the next meeting of the Council. From the Hon. J. Martin agreeing to the deviation of tbe Martinborough-Pahan rosd through hie property providing the Conncil erected the requisite gates across the road. The engineer’s report was received and referred to the Public Works Committee. The Clerk read a letter in reference to the interview held with the Secretary of the United Charitable Aid Board, bnt as nothing further had been heard from him in reference to adjusting the levies on Local Bodies, nothing further could be done in the matter. Cr U. R. Bunny moved and Cr J. Tully seoouded that tue common seal of tbe Council be altered from Wairarapa West to South. Carried. Some accounts were passed for payment and this brought tbe meeting to a close.
