Wairarapa Jockey Club.
To the Editor of the Standard,
Sib,—l was glad to see that a few gentle, men at Featberston bad taken the trouble to meet together to talk among themselves con. cerning the prospects of the Wairarapa JocKey Clnb. While the meeting of itself can have no other effect than to call forth public opinion, yet this is a stsp I trust towards a change being brought about. I hope that the stewards will now silt matters and oall a general meeting. The financial condition of the club is deplorable, and to save it from ruin we must take decisive action. Spotting men would be sorry to see the club go down, I know there is a widespread feeling that the club is rather too much of a family affair, and while giving the secretary every praise lor his diligence in working, it is thought that a change of tactics is necessary. As a member I hope a public meeting will be called, when we all can express our opinions. I am, <fco., Saddling Paddock.
To the Editor of the Standard.
Sib, —The sporting fraternity of Feather* eton bare met—or rather some of them—probably three of them. They have spoken, and they have expressed a desire that they should be reported in the public press. Did it strike the sporting readers of your paper that in Featherston there is a little Taubers* nikau clique who want the sports run on that course, and to get the fun down that way would like to see the old club bottled up. No, No, Sonny, we ll watch your little game. Considering all that has been done of late and the big expense the olub has been pat to, things are not so bad after all. It wouldn't be Featherston if there wasn’t a little blow occasionally. 1 am, <to., Mine's Box.
