A Horrible Story.
Lon doh, March 1. The statements made by the survivors of the Kapunda disaster confirm the report* that preceded their arrival. The passenger* support tie statement that the Ada Melmor* did not carry side lights at the time of tb* collision. The shrieks of the women and children as the vessel went down are described as awful A shocking incident is related a* to the fate of some of the passengers. It 1* asserted that according to the rule which prevail on immigrant ships all the single women are locked in their quartets by the matron when she retired lor the night. In consequence of the confusion and the rapidity with which the Kapuuda sank, the unhappy women were not released, and all were drowned, di-spile their efforts to free them* selves. The last sounds ueard when the ship went down were the frantic thuds of tb* imprisoned victims as they vainly tried to break open the doors of their cabins.
