A Teetotal Contribution.
To the Editor of the Waimmpa Standard.
Sin, —The following clip is going the rounds of the colonial press and is taken from the Imperial lleview, published in Melbourne “ Teetotallers as a class are the most disagreeable in society. They are proverbial for bad temper, exclusiveness, conceit, envy, hatred, malice, and all uncbaritableness, covetousness and gluttony. Every teetotaller that has wormed an entrance into the Victo:an Legislative Assembly has been remarkable for his disagreeable qualities. O'r MeiOourne readers, of course, find a flood of recollections overwhelm them on that point. Teetotallers are especially covetous. They are conspicuous in the building tocie ties, devouring widows’ houses, and, for pretence, making long prayers. Every withered atomy of a man must needs slick a bHic ribbon in his buttonhole, and go about the streets as a warning.” Th# above clip is respect- 1 fully submittedsto the prayerful con - sideration of ysuc teetotal readers by : * A Ehiekd. 1
