SHUT IN. —— - O'er arching sky t bat lowly bend* To meet the earth that Ilea below, The setting sun its rich tint sends, Until a softly crimsoned glow O'er all the earth is spread. 'Tis close of day. but still (he son, That late held undisputed sway. Computes the work so well begun, And with it* brilliant-hoed display, Still makes its presence known. We look around, to left, to tight, Bat still that softly crimsoned glow E'er seems to meet the lingering sight. And to the wondering mortals show The beauties God hath wrought. Ob. arching sky, though wondrous (air, Yon ever seem to shut me in ; You meet my vision everywhere— Where you end. or when begin, No human eye can tell. And so, no matter where I go, You ever form a circle round ; Bat what lies beyond I little know— But from your prison I have found That all escape is vain. ,» E'en so my life is all shut in By evil lortune’a circling skies; I goffer for another's sin, I vainly try with aching eyes. To look beyond the clouds. Emm l'*c,i »
