Fatal Accident.
A tumble accident occurred at Wellington vestcrday morning at Messrs Hayman and Oo's store. The assistant storeman, W m Kuching, aged 29 years, with a lad named Mark Kershaw were ascending to the top story in a lift when a link in the chain snapped and the lift descended rapidly till it reached the ground floor. Beyond a severe shaking the boy escaped unhurt, but Etching was found lying on the floor c{ the store in a horribly mutilated condition and apparently lifeless. A wound on the skull was sufficient toacoount for the man’s death, bul beyond tins the other injuries would have precluded any hope of the poor lollow hj recovery. The thighs were broken and doubled up, aud the still lower extremities were crushed in many places and iu addition the body iras disembowelled, ’
