Borough Wells.
To the Editor of the Standard.
Sib, —We have wells in the borough, sunk at great expense, to be used in time of fire. If a fire broke out tonight of what use will they be ? There is no water, and yet everybody sleeps securely as if there is no danger. Why are the wells not sunk deeper now the dry weather is on ? Some of your correspondents talk of praying for rain, Let them pray I say ; but let us have a little water in the wells by deep sinking at the same time. There will be a big fire and then —you know. I am, <fec., The Engine
