The fifth annual cricket match, which commenced at about 12 o'clock between the .Wellington ami Oraytowu Working Men'* Club wae played on the Greytowu Beserve on a hard wicket on Saturday last, and won by Oreytown on the first inning* by 123 rung. Beard, O. Jackson, and J. Jodi snowed good cricket {or their runs lor the home team. Extras are large, 34, bowling being rather fast on the Wellington side, and the long gras* anything but pleasant tor fielding, home team’s innings closing tor 147 runs. That of the visitors was very short, all being disposed of for the small total of 24 runs, Wheatley being top soerer with 11. W. Judd was too good with the leather far long scores, 10 wickets for 14 ran*, his brother James securing 4 lor 23. The analysis of the visitors was not kept, bat Smith, Arnold, and Pndeanx were tha bowlers, Smith taking five wickets, Prideaux three, and Arnold two wickets. In tha second innings of Wellington Prideanx came out with the fine score of 88. W. Jndd captained the home team, Smith captaining Wellington. The decision of one of tha umpires in two or three InstaßOM questioned by the Oreytown team, a change was made, and the match proceeded without any further delay. Pridaani, of Wellington, received a rather nasty crack on the lip, which caused his retirement for a short time. The match was altogether an enjoyable one, and the visitors returned by Saturday evening’s train. The attendance of the public was not very great.
