Reply to “Parent.”

To the Editor of the Standard.

Sir,— Will yon allow me a small space in your columns to reply to a letter signed " Parent,” though I doubt by the tone of his letter whether he has that honor. For “ Parent's ’’ information I am not ashamed to say I am the C. W. Keys who has business with Mr W. Candy, by working in his shop. That does not, not ever will prevent me speaking my mind on any subject brought before any public institution, especially such an institution as a public school. lam not writing now, nor did 1 in my letter of the 15th inst., in support of the appointment in question, but to contradict a false account of the meeting on the subject. It " Parent ” was interested in that false account appearing in print, his bitterness of feeling is easily understood. I feel 1 should not have been doing my duty to those who placed me on the committee if I bad allowed it to remain nncontradioted. “ Parent ” says all unbiassed parents think the action of the Board overbearing and arbitrary ; he is welcome to his opinions. No one has said they were not so. But it is very evident that “ Parent " is not one of the unbiassed persons he speaks of. In conclusion, Mr Editor, I would suggest to ’’ Parent ” that when he next writes us a homily on good sense and good taste be will show his own good taste by signing bis name to his “ effusions,” and not sustain bis wellearned reputation of stabbing iu the dark. 1 am, <to., C. W. Kbts. Featherston, October 20th, 1830.
