Land Board.

The ordinary meeting of the Waste Lands Board was held yesterday morning. Preienl —the Chief Commissioner (presiding), Messrs Bnnoy, Fitzherbert, Reese and MeOardle. Since the last meeting applications were received for the lease of 2897 acres of land at a rental of L 415, the amount paid being LIS 5s 7d.

The following applications to capitalise were approved A Fabian, seetion 20, block V., Eupuarauga; C E Fabian, section 19, block V, Enpnaraoga ; J Fabian, section 15, Knpoaranga ; S Watt, section 18, bleak 111., Wairoa.

Tbs Grey town Borough Council wrote asking to whom the compensation for improvements effected on Crown lends near Greytown North bad to be paid. They forwarded a report of tbeir surveyor on the subject. It was resolved to leave the matter in the hands of the local bodies to settle the payment of L 34 with Messrs Oallsgfaer and Fuller as they might think best. The Commissioner submitted an estimate of the cost of preparing plane for the Wairarapa East and West Counties for exhibition at various places. Mr Beese moved," That Government be asked lo find funds for the preparation of the plans.” Mr Bonny seconded the motion, which was carried.

Ml M'Cardie wished the Board to enquire into the queetion of the route of railway through the Pahiatua district, as at a meeting at Pahiatua the other night, it had been asserted that tba line had been used ee a decoy dock to induce people to take up land.
